Hi Alice,
\xa0
Last week, I had this crazy idea to send you an email I got from my team.
“PLASTIC IN THE TREES” it read. But you know how important it is to look beyond a headline.\xa0
\xa0
I sent it because it shocked me, and I honestly couldn’t believe how bad the plastic crisis is becoming. The flood and resulting environmental catastrophe happened virtually overnight.\xa0
Over the past week, the clean ocean movement enabled us to deploy additional resources to clean these areas surrounding the river as fast as possible.\xa0
I’m not going to lie, it’s slow going. All the plastic is caught on the bamboo’s tiny thorns, meaning each piece must be removed one at a time.
Our teams may be reacting to an ongoing crisis, but I’m proud of all of the impact they are making and the plastic they are collecting.\xa0
They’re preventing plastic from ending up in the ocean.\xa0
They’re preventing plastic from being ingested by animals.\xa0
They’re preventing the plastic from being ingested by us.\xa0
These pictures have a story to tell, and that story is that we need to come together tohelp the environment. It’s that simple.\xa0
Thank you for listening and thank you for reading.\xa0
Our teams around the world appreciate it more than you know.\xa0
As always, they wanted me to share photos of the ongoing cleanup operation around the river. We won’t stop until it’s clean.\xa0
Thank you very much for the help, you guys are legends.\xa0
For the ocean,\xa0
Alex
