The History of Harry & David - What started out as a passion for agriculture has bloomed into a lasting legacy. A Dream of Two Brothers - In 1934, Harry and David Holmes set out with the goal of bringing their precious Royal Riviera® Pears to the world. They reached out to the captains of industry across the country and encouraged them to send gift boxes of this incredibly sweet and juicy fruit to their clients and colleagues. Their idea was a hit, and the rest is history.

Always Innovating - By 1945, David Holmes came up with another brilliant idea. He thought it would be fun to open box after box of tasty treats—and boy, was he right! The very first Tower of Treats® Gift was a smashing success, and it inspired the creation of countless other beautiful towers.

The Orchards and Beyond - Plenty more has changed as our company has grown and flourished. We've branched into the worlds of gourmet food and wine as well as expanding our ever-growing gourmet gift collection. No matter how much we've evolved, our mission has remained the same: to help create meaningful connections between you and the ones you care about.
