For a photographer, travel is more than just an opportunity to document incredible memories.\xa0Every destination we explore offers\xa0a\xa0new palette of colors, landscapes, and people\xa0—plus the opportunity to play with new elements in our frames, and reconnect with the art of photography.
Travel tips to know before you go
01. Pack carefully, yet efficiently
Consider the size and weight of the gear you want to bring, and pack it in a carry-on bag to avoid the risk of loss or damage. Pack lightweight, compact gear like Mirrorless camera bodies, prime lenses, and carbon tripods. You may also find that a single, quality zoom lens can cover all your bases versus packing multiple prime lenses.
02. Don’t ignore the human element
Including people can add emotion, scale, and connection to your photos and can depict cultures and customs that truly tell the story of a place.\xa0Greet locals in a friendly way, and always ask for permission before taking their photos. You may even walk away with a new friend, or tips for where to shoot next.
03. Leverage leading lines
Leading lines help create a pleasing photo structure by naturally drawing the viewer’s eyes to a specific subject or element in your photos.\xa0Practice looking for leading lines before your trip to train your eye. Architecture, roads, pathways, and horizons all create lines. Where and how they lead the viewer is up to you.
