Font Field Guides
  • ITC Clearface® Font Field Guide: ITC Clearface is ideal when space is at a premium. It features small (almost slab) serifs, a large x-height and minor contrast in stroke weight. ITC Clearface also contains many distinctive characters which distinguish the design from other faces.
  • Royalis Font Field Guide: Royalis is an expressive and extravagant serif typeface family. It is characterized by a high contrast and dynamic features in the details, such as long terminals or deep inktraps.
The Manual
  • Creative Paragraphing: Indenting the first line of every paragraph is a habit most of us acquired in grammar school. Its purpose is to create a visual separation between paragraphs. The most commonly used indent is the first line indent.
  • Tips for Scripts: Blocks of script copy are not inviting to the reader. While scripts stand out, they also create a busy visual texture that is subtly off-putting to readers. In addition, scripts are harder to read than serif or sans serif typefaces. We are not as used to their character shapes as we are to those in more traditional typeface designs.

Creative Characters:
  • Dwi Ahidian - Lemonthe: Graphic designer and font creator Dwi Ahidian, the founder of Lemonthe Studio, found himself on a newly creative path just five years after his 2015 graduation from Politeknik Piksi Ganesha, a university in Bandung, the capital city of Indonesia’s West Java province, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Information Technology and where he also lives and works.
