NULU French Oak Bourbon Batch #1

We have fallen in love with the different flavors toasted French oak has to offer. We start by finishing high-rye bourbon with precision-toasted staves directly imported from France. The staves add layers of flavor, aroma, body and tannin to the already well-aged bourbon. The nose is inviting with vanilla, Bundt cake and mocha. The palate has slight fruit and mirrors the nose. Some notes of buttered waffles, pie crust and cocoa balance with a rich body and long finish. The French oak offers so many layers and dimensions as the pour gets more air.

For this face-lifted release, we wanted to blend something that shows how we’ve matured as a whiskey producer. This is the first national release of the new Nulu\xa0Reserve with Black Labels. Crack this, give it some air, and the 6-year old, high-rye MGP bourbon will invite you back for more and more. The nose opens up to stewed-fruit, vanilla and toasted oak. The front palate gives off that same fruit with some cream, spice and brown sugar. The palate builds darkness, showing the age and char of the bourbon. As it finishes, the sweetness and darkness sit all over the palate. The finish is long, with some caramel and tannin.

This may just be the best toasted small batch bourbon we’ve ever bottled. From nose to finish, this pour is sweet, rich and balanced. Immediately, the nose offers sweet toast, cream, and candy. On the palate, you notice the oil level that balances\xa0with the tannin and sweet char. The pour continues to develop, showcasing the\xa0layers of flavor.
