Brulor PipesBrulor pipes were crafted in Saint Claude at the Ropp, Jeantet, and Charles Hecht factories until the end of the 1950s when the French brand ceased production and seemed fated to fade into obscurity. A reprieve appeared, however, in the mid-2010s, when pipe artisan Bruno Nuttens procured a supply of vintage Brulor pipes and decided to resurrect the once-defunct brand. Varied in terms of shape, finish, and stamping, these Brulor pipes — all of which date to the 1940s or earlier — represent vintage French craftsmanship as it existed during the first half of the 20th century, offering well-aged briar and original stems. Today's Brulor pipes include Churchwarden designs and a wide range of old-school shapes. | |
Former PipesAmong the world's most revered artisan pipe makers, Hans "Former" Nielsen boasts a decades-long career, from supervisor of the W.Ø. Larsen workshop and manager of Bentley pipes to hand-crafting his own pieces and mentoring younger carvers. Two new Former pipes are on-site today: a compact Apple accented with Ivorite and an oversized Apple dressed in an earthy sandblast. |
Chris Asteriou PipesWith a background in architecture, Chris Asteriou fashions handmade pipes that excel in design and engineering. His well-balanced portfolio includes traditional shapes as well as innovative sculptural pieces. Today's two new pipes showcase Asteriou's creative range, including a sandblasted Billiard accented with Corian and an asymmetrical Dublin, also accented with Corian. |
Scott Thile PipesScott Thile's pipe craftsmanship is inspired by the beauty he finds in musical instruments; he describes his style as an American interpretation of Danish sensibilities. Available today are pieces showcasing his unique line work, featuring a muscular Liverpool, a rugged Cherrywood, a plump bent Apple accented with holly, and a smooth, gestural Volcano. |
Clarin Clay PipesA partnership between professional ceramicist Edna Bertin and industrial designer Alexandre "Ale" Vichinheski, Clarin Clay offers heirloom-quality clay pipes that marry traditional craftsmanship with old-school aesthetics. New on-site today is Clarin Clay's signature Cutty shape, fashioned from gray clay instead of the brand's traditional white clay. |
