NBA icon Jerry West passed away on June 12 at the age of 86. The NBA Hall of Famer was a staple for the Los Angeles Lakers as a player, coach, and general manager. West, who played for the Lakers from 1960-74, brought the franchise a title in 1972. He remains the only player in league history to win Finals MVP as a member of a losing team. West retired as league leader in career postseason scoring. West’s image has literally been imprinted on the NBA since 1969. Designer Alan Siegel used West’s recognizable silhouette to create the league’s now-famous emblem. From then on, West was known as “The Logo.” |
After a highly successful first season, “King of Collectibles: The Goldin Touch'' is back. The unscripted series on Netflix follows Ken Goldin and his auction house staff at Goldin as they wheel-and-deal for high-scale memorabilia, collectibles, and trading cards. “King of Collectibles: “The Goldin Touch '' Season 2 has eight episodes after having six in the first season. This season, which was released on Netflix on June 12, features rare items from MLB legends Babe Ruth and Jackie Robinson. The show also dabbles in entertainment pieces such as a beautiful copy of DC’s Action Comics #1, which was the debut of Superman. |
2024 MLB All-Star voting is underway as the league continues its two-phase voting system to elect the starters for this year’s game that will take place in Arlington, Texas on July 16. During Phase 1, fans are permitted to vote up to five times daily. Upon completion of the opening phase, the top vote-getter from each league will be awarded an automatic starting spot. Phase 2, in which voters can log their choices once per day, will determine the rest of the All-Star starters. New York Yankee outfielderAaron Judgecurrently leads the American League with 1,366,315 votes, MLB announced on June 17. After finishing second toShohei Ohtanilast season, Judge leads the AL in HRs, RBIs, and OPS.Philadelphia PhilliesstarBryce Harpertops the National League list with 1,110,562 votes.
