Virginie Viard’sexit from Chanel, with less than three weeks until the house’s fall 2024 haute couture show, had fashion people speculating wildly into the night. Pierpaolo Piccioli and Sarah Burton were two names floated in my chats. A statement from the company said “a new creative organization will be announced in due course,” so for the moment, at least, all is conjecture. There’s plenty going on in the meantime. Sarah Mower reports that yesterday’s Craig Green show in London, his first in two years, was moving. Green lost his dad recently. “Since then,” he told her, “I’ve been thinking a lot about the relationships between sons and fathers and that kind of dual expectation you have [of each other]. It’s kind of about that tension.”
