Much has been said about the death of trends, but when you’re looking at several hundred collections—and thousands of street style photos— over the course of a month, as my Vogue Runway colleagues do, themes emerge, and we’ll be sharing them with you all week long. First up is Irene Kim’s playful look at Phil Oh’s photos and Acielle Tanbetova’s videos from the scene outside the shows. On Irene’s radar: Barbenheimer colors (still), power shoulders (again), baby tees (yes, really), and the arrival of a new It accessory. Click through for all the details. On a more serious note, reporters at Vogue Business spent the days since the end of Paris Fashion Week tallying up the season’s size inclusivity data points, and the story they tell is one of backsliding on commitments to cast models of all shapes and sizes. “There were some glimmers of progress on size inclusivity among fashion’s major houses last season, as some experimented with casting mid and plus-size models. However, fall 2024 suggests it was just that, a one-off experiment,” they write. That’s a shame. Diversity of this kind, or any kind, shouldn’t be a here-today, gone-tomorrow trend.
